Description
The crossing guard at Roosevelt School is out of control. Every day, she is yelling and screaming, flailing her arms all over the place and not maintaining composure and order. She is making everything confusing for everyone with her crazy, wild antics. She yells at pedestrians & drivers, rolls her eyes, shakes her head, berates them and gets very emotional. It's great that she takes her job seriously but her emotions are actually making the situation hazardous. Today, she was screaming and yelling at a guy who was parked illegally on the corner and she got into a yelling match with him and tried to physically block him from leaving. Then she started screaming for someone to call the police. Then she started crying, saying the man bumped her with his car. Now while this man was wrong, she didn't need to escalate things to the level that she did. It also distracted her from her duties. Once, I was waiting to make a left turn onto Stewart, stuck in the middle of the intersection, patiently waiting for pedestrians to cross. As soon as the light turned red, allowing me to finally complete my turn, she turns around and sees me and starts yelling and screaming at me, flailing her arms around like a mad woman. I did absolutely nothing wrong. This woman needs to be spoken to, re-trained, or relieved of her duty. There is no need for such drama and emotion. She is confusing drivers and pedestrians with her antics and this needs to stop.

You probably have some valid concerns, like you said, if she were talking and not doing her job. Hysterics are not necessary, but how is a crossing guard going to enforce laws? She sounds like a very passionate person (to say the least). Great if crossing guards could take plate numbers and turn them in at the end of the day. I don't know how else a crossing guard could enforce traffic laws. Write down plate and car description.
I see plenty of motorist fly right past a cross walk, with children and a crossing guard trying to cross. I see school buses stop to pick up children and not turn on their red flashing lights, especially at the day care centers. Maybe she is just fed up with bad drivers. At lease she cares.
