It seems like a fairly straightforward issue. The police knock on a few doors and let the residence know they can not block a public sidewalk. It is against town code. I noticed the cars are all still parked there.

Two days and nothing has been done?! I agree with Sally D. ticket their car & and politely ask them not to block the sidewalk!!

Let's give the police a few days to cruise by and check on the situation after issuing violations. I'm sure they will be checking on these violaters to make sure they are not continuing to block our sidewalk.

This seems so blatant, I can't imagine the police department will turn a blind eye to it.

this is happening all over town at the same houses daily. Lindenwood, cottage, north. They all should be ticketed not single out one house.

I live around the corner and have to walk by this on a daily basis with my 3 young children. There is usually 3-4 cars parked this way at all times, so that means my 2 and 4 year old and myself with a stroller all have to walk in the street for quite a distance. I wish they would fix this!

It's not a fix. It's enforcing an existing law, which the
Police Department does not seem to want to do!

Vinny, you might be one of the ones I see on my way back from dropping my kids off at school. I live up Hancock on the other side of Pine. I cross over because there's no sidewalk on one side of Pine.
It lookes like this issue is being swept under the carpet by the police.
The police closed this issue in 3 days without taking any "real" action. It's been over 2 weekend and nothing has changed. Parents with, children, strollers, and carriages are in the street and the cars are still on the sidewalk.

I would suggest emailing or calling Chief James T. McIntyre directly. They should be ticketed period.

I drove my children to school on Wednesday and stopped at the end of Middle Street at Pine and saw that the parking situation has not been resolved at all.  I took these pictures because you would have to see it to believe it. This is 15 days after the original complaint. I'm not sure what the police department's official stance on this is. Obviously these cars are not being ticketed or they wouldn't be parking like this anymore. It would be helpful if the police department would speak up and tell us what their position on this is. Pedestrians shouldn't have to go through this just to walk safely to school or any other time. 

Today I see that the cars are pulled up a bit further off the sidewalk although not completely. They've done this before only to have them back on the sidewalk a few days later. We'll see how long this lasts before we have to be back here again.

Let's keep taking pictures and keep reporting. Get your friends and neighbors to report this also. Contact the members of the Board of Selectmen and ask them to report our complaints to Dave Ragucci and the Chief of Police. This is a problem all over town so the more complaints filed the better chance we have of the Police acting on the complaints in a consistent manner.
