203-946-6316 thats the number you should dial when you want to report something..not the computer.. Officers on duty dont have internet and they dont read the New Haven Independent while they are working.

I've seen that green dirt bike flying down Middletown Ave...often with the rider shirtless and his shirt wrapped around his head and face. I live a few streets from Palmieri and same thing here: kids UNDER TEN years old are riding dirt bikes like crazy. They require a driver's license even if they're under 50 cc! Police don't care and we get no response or routine patrols north of Rte 80. What gives?

WIth respect to "tell them where they are garaged": there are several vehicles on my street (within walking district of Palmieri) and police have been given addresses, names, and photos. They act annoyed at receiving the information. I've actually been told things ranging from "officers are out in areas where there is *real* crime" to "there's no traffic on your street anyway". What?? Ridiculous. It's the same old thing: no police north of Rte 80. Do you folks ever see regular patrols on Palmieri and the surrounding area? I don't and it's really frustrating. We are all collectively trying to preserve neighborhoods, quality of life, etc. There is drug dealing on my street, too, but apparently not enough of it to get anything done about it. *shrug*

same thing on Roosevelt with little kids on motorbikes and quads. If they are not licensed, they are illegally operating motor vehicles on the streets. The have no sense about traffic or safety, either. They also ride after dark, with no lights. Someone is going to get killed doing this. Then the entire city will be in an uproar, but it will be too late.

If you know where dirt bikes, quads and ATVs are garaged, report it to the New Haven Police Criminal Intel Unit. The officer in charge is:

He will respond to emails and calls. If you report a known ATV or dirt bike location to him, he will investigate and confiscate the machines.

Community members are always welcome to notify their respective District Manager; however, it’s important that people don’t telephone their District Manager to report an incident which is currently taking place, but instead telephone the incident into the non-emergency line to have officers dispatched. We appreciate your concern and help in addressing this matter.

police dispatcher often gives an attitude of I dont care when complaints are called in re the kids on dirt bikes/scooters, or regarding fireworks, explosive kind. it's disheartening.
