Description

Every weekend on Friday and Saturday there is street racing going on. Not only does it effect our guest at Days Inn New Haven, because guest can't get out of the property or get into the property but these race watcher are really rude and aggressive to staff and and guest. We are worried that they will cause harm not only to our staff but our guest. We have to call every weekend to inform the police about this but it hasn't stopped and sometimes the police do take forever to get there . Today our local bus was waiting 10 minutes just to take a turn into the walmart bus stop. I don't understand why the New Haven police doesn't take action towards this. What if a innocent by standard gets harmed or killed because of these racers. Please do something!

Rt.80 is a state road maybe you could call the state police to see if they would help with your situation

I go out every Friday and Saturday nights to monitor the racing. It's not just the racing since the super loud noises from cars and bikes is very noxious. Lt Rentkowicz of NHPD has been very sensitive to this issue but it needs to be ramped up. I think the Mayor and State officials need to apply the pressure to not only confiscate violator's cars and bikes, but to start up the muffler violation ticketing. It is out of hand.

This is nothing new. Eight months ago, 48 people were arrested and 10 vehicles were confiscated from the same area on Foxon Blvd. If people are engaged in the same criminal activity on the same days of the week at the same time of night, it's a total no-brainer. No investigative work is necessary. The cops can simply set up road blocks and perform the same sting operation they did last time.

Hopefully, only the racers will be arrested. Last time, there were innocent people who were arrested just because they happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
WARNING: If you go to McDonald's on Foxon Blvd while drag racing is occurring, you could be arrested if the cops show up to bust the racers.

Try the state police and if that yields nothing, then go onto the New Haven Fire Department. That is a safety hazard because on fire/emergency/first responder vehicles can get in or out. The NHFD is often more responsive than NHPD; same with fireworks issues.

Any improvement at Days Inn? Footage from On Scene Media New Haven showed racing at various points in the City over the past few days. The Mayor needs to break out the drones.

Saturday night was a zoo on Quinnipiac between Rt 80 and the Amtrak bridge: there was a big party simultaneously with the weekend soccer games behind 1134 Quinnipiac. I am sure masks and social distancing was not being practiced at either event. I called 201 as suggested on posters to report violations, to no avail. I feel almost guilty calling our police dept and ask them to go into large crowds to police these common sense regulations.

It Monday around 12:15 AM and I can hear them. I just called the police and suggest others do the same before someone is seriously injured. I will be calling the mayor's office tomorrow 203 946-8200 and also suggest others do the same. What other surrounding towns would allow this?
