Not condoning running red lights, but a major problem with our buses is that all the Eastbound routes travel down the same block of Chapel Street (i.e Chapel between Orange and State) and this gets heavily congested as a result. Buses usually will take a chance in the State Street intersection regardless of the color of the traffic signal in the interest of keeping traffic flowing and getting to the next stop.
That's because there is absolutely no punishment by police or the bus company for doing this- ever see a cop pull over a bus for running a lite, blocking an intersection or speeding?? Not saying they should be ticketed every-time, but a verbal can go a long way.......especially since putting in a complaint with CT Transit does nothing-trust me I've reported the same bus multiple times and they just don't care.
CT Transit running red lights, speeding, illegal lane changes, no regard for safety, NEVER on time, rude drivers - that's why I don't ride the bus. NO MORE EXCUSES-
The State of Connecticut is being notified of EVERY click fix issue.
Until drivers start losing their public service licenses nothing will change. WE as a whole, can make this happen and we will.
As the person who opened the ticket I'm fine with it being closed. As long as ct transit is acknowledging this individual problem then it is resolved in my eyes.
If we document individual issues and CT transiting acknowledges them they will be able to look at the systemic problem over time. I'm not disagreeing that acknowledging this particular issue solves all of the problems but it does at least create resolution to something that is in the past.
It's a great step to say city transit publicly interacting with citizens about complaints on the buses.
