The Renton Police Department employs two full-time Animal Control officers to serve those citizens who reside within the city limits of Renton.

Animal Control Officers;

Investigate and enforce noise violations, such as barking dogs or other repetitive noises.

Report on and quarantine biting animals.

Pick up domestic animals in violation of the city's trespass ordinance.

Enforce leash law violations.

Advise and educate citizens on the use of traps or alternatives for nuisance cats or wildlife.

Investigate animal cruelty complaints.

Enforce the city's licensing requirements for dogs and cats.

Take reports of lost/found domestic animals.

Aid any sick or injured animal.

Pick up any stray or deceased animal on the roadway.

Thank you Hilary for reporting this. I have been calling the number and have left several messages since we discovered the cat, to no avail. My son finally moved it tonight because I was getting very upset about it. Diana

Hi Diana, I appreciate you trying! I walk past there several days a week and it’s upsetting that it’s still there. This is the third time I’ve reported it on Renton Responds (they keep closing the request as if it’s resolved). It used to be a great system, but recently has been horrible. Thanks to your son for moving it! I’ll swing by again tomorrow and report again (please encourage your neighbs to do the same).

Just my opinion. When I see a dead animal, has happened several times, I move it myself, wearing gloves, not a big deal. Quickly get rid of hazard and bad appearance. Give the animal some dignity and respect. I admit moving a dead body is not a pleasant task for many people, so understandable you would ask for help.

Control Officers will respond and address the concern. Please note that not all concerns or complaints will result in a citation and you also may not be able to visibly see that we have responded. Animal Control does not work a 24/7 schedule. If this concern requires an immediate response please call 911 and an officer will respond when available.
