I'm tired of seeing one of these shuttles every 5 minutes and they're largely empty.

report it to this site so you have a written complaint and if you have the approx. time they should be able to track it- I believe they all have GPS unlike Ct Transit. Yes way too many shuttles- Its a neighborhood not a multi bus route. This kids can walk too. Bring this to your Alder's attention. http://to.yale.edu/feedback

update: almost two weeks later no visit from their insurance; bc the police report states that there were no marks left on the shuttle (come on, it's a plastic side mirror versus a commercial vehicle!), First Transit will not take responsibility. I finally decided to pay my deductible and give it over to my insurance company. Shameful, really. One more reason to leave New Haven, the unlivable city.

I think if these things are going to clog our narrow roads and whack people's mirrors, Yale should offer free rides for ALL city residents on their routes.

well, that's a good question: why do Yale students/faculty need to ride on separate transportation? Shouldn't the effort focus on improving public transportation for all? and why are Yale shuttles/buses allowed to drive through smaller streets/residential areas when NH's public transportation is not?

When I was at UT, the University buses were free to ride for all.

Here Yale Shuttles are the privilege of Yale students only. They do not stop at the city's bus stops; rather, they act as school buses who drive (and hit parked cars) at residential streets. When I bought my property I never imagined that my street would end up being a main shuttle route/stop. I never imagined that East Rock would be nothing but an extension of the Yale campus.

Actually, you can ride the shuttles. No one has ever asked me for an ID. Why don't you give it a try. I'm sorry that someone's mirror was damaged without anyone taking responsibility, but let's face it, without Yale, New Haven would be just like any other struggling small city without all of the culture and our East Rock properties would not be worth nearly as much. Just some perspective.

Without Yale, New Haven would would be free of self-entitled transeunt inhabitants--it would face its own limitations and maybe be a livable city. Let's face it.

Yale buses are too big for the smaller streets in East Rock; circulate too frequently, but empty. They are noisy. They don't serve most homeowners/tax payers. Could we at least request that Yale/First Transit uses only the smaller shuttles on residential streets?

Seriously. We need to kick these chariots for the transient elite off our taxpayer funded streets!
