  • 98 Beacon St Bridgeport, Connecticut, 06605 - Bridgeport

Today, a City of Bridgeport inspector issued a red slip (aka inspection "fail") to the man managing the foundation work site at 108 Beacon St.

This man -- who's described himself to people in the community as the "contractor of record" -- immediately stuck the red slip in his pocket. However, the red slip is supposed to be posted at the site for all to see. Why is there no enforcement?

    Furthermore:

How did a "contractor" without a contracting license in the State of Connecticut pull a permit in the City of Bridgeport?

How did the site get any permits when it is in the Black Rock Harbor historic district and the City of Bridgeport Historic District Commission has not issued a certificate of appropriateness to the owner of this property for any/all plans presented to the Historic District Commission since 2019?

I had to visit the tax assessors office because of a motor vehicle issue on Tuesday 7-5-2022.
I was appalled at the behavior of the employee behind the counter at 9:10, as I had to wait and others for her to get off her personal phone call with doctors and pharmarcy, because she retired and had to get her personal issues in order.
if she retired what is she doing back at work? From what I witnessed she's not that value.
The line of TAXPAYERS started to increase and others from the back came out to assist, one actual asked her to get off the phone or go to the back of the office, she had the Audicity to say she was on a break. the office just opened. How can you possibly be on a break.
once she finally decided to get to work she was rude, loud and dismissive with the people who PAY HER SALARY.

    Totally unpropfessional, and unacceptable!!!!

This location has been an unsightly mess for well over a year now. Sidewalk is broken up and needs to be repaired. Either the owner builds his house or put a solid fence up to hide the lot.

Note that the 108 Beacon St folks in preparing to pour a 6" concrete slab have not laid out "15 MIL POLY VAPOR/TERMITE BARRIER" and under that "2" HORIZONTAL RIGID INSULATION" -- as specified in the 4/22/22 City of Bridgeport Building Dept-approved plan.

Any INSPECTOR going to show up before the slab is poured?

More than 4 SHU students at this address.

Sacred Heart students have returned for the Fall session and we already have multiple parties this weekend in residential areas, blocking the residential neighborhood streets with traffic, cars blocking fire hydrants, blocking street corners, and walking in the streets during daylight like it’s some type of block party. These are residential areas, not Sacred Heart dorms. Calling the police is not helpful because they don’t have enough staff to support these calls, as there are more important things to tend to. Why are the police such-short staffed? A big City like Bridgeport needs to have available resources. Since students returned, the traffic has increased two fold and they are speeding through the streets, neglecting stop signs. And of course, there are more than 4 non-related parties living in rentals, which equates to many more cars in one household that are not paying property taxes on vehicles. They clog up the streets, park in the wrong direction, and park halfway in the street at times during normal days, not just during parties. Why do we, the tax paying residents of Bridgeport, have to put up with this?
Why can’t the City of Bridgeport enforce the zoning for these houses? Hire more individuals for these jobs and start to do something about it. There are so many residents that have gotten fed up and left the City only to have the house flipped for college students. Don’t you see this happening in front of your eyes? Because the North End certain does! Perhaps you should spent some time in the North End and see what the real issues are. Would you like living next door to these houses? Probably not but you do nothing to help the residents. And the excuses I have heard in the past are that these students are bringing money into Bridgeport. Well so would a family if they could afford these houses? And they would be paying property taxes on vehicles – something that is sorely missing today! And they would be more respectful of their neighbors. The North End has become a party area reflecting the wild-wild west. Even calling the police does nothing to curb parties.
Why can’t there be a task force for zoning for all the college houses and work with Sacred Heart Administration or Dean of Students to crack down on these houses with 5 or more living in the houses? The absentee landlords know nothing will be done to them in Bridgeport so the habit continues. They don’t care what their houses look like and do the bare minimum for maintenance but collect a high dollar for rent. So will you ignore this complaint, as you have in the past, or do something to help the residents? And why does this complaint keep getting closed out without resolution or response?

  • 636 Courtland Ave Bridgeport CT 06605, United States - Bridgeport
How do we get speed humps on Courtland? People have been flying down the road, going over 45+ mph. I tried to find some info regarding neighborhood petitions, etc. but didn't see anything on the cities website. My neighbors and I all have children that play on this road. It's dangerous to have all these speed racers trying to make the green light onto Fairfield Ave. I only see this getting worse with the monstrosity the city is allowing to be built on the corner of Courtland and Fairfield Ave.

Boxes of garbage in driveway of student rental home. Please hold tenants and landlords responsible. This is an eyesore for hardworking taxpaying residents.
  • 330 Myrtle Ave Bridgeport, CT, 06604, USA - Bridgeport

Good afternoon, on the property address referenced above there is an excessive amount of cats.  The cats are crossing over to 325 Lafayette Street, and are constantly urinating in front of my door.

This is unsanitary, unacceptable, and detrimental to my health, safety and that of my 2 small girls.

Please take action on this matter.  The building is empty, in disrepair and blight to our neighborhood.  There is also constant dumping of trash around the perimeter of the building.

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

I am an attorney from the CT Veterans Legal Center writing on behalf of an 82 year old veteran in the building. Mice and roaches run around him and over him. He isn't able to walk and the infestation is particularly harmful to a vulnerable person. My name is Karen Gargamelli-McCreight, Esq. The veteran's information is listed below.

This construction site has turned into a blight situation. No work is done for weeks on end and the place looks like a garbage dump. The Port-a-Potty is being used as a public bathroom. This neighborhood deserves peace and an end to what should've been a 3 week project for a foundation only. We are all exhausted from the atrocious lack of oversight. It's amateur hour on 108 Beacon. Please address it.
