Sidewalk is missing on the east side of Portland between Park Ave S and Crosstown Hwy. There are otherwise sidewalks on both sides of Portland through all of Richfield and Minneapolis. There is extensive pedestrian traffic here, and a well-beaten path where there should be a sidewalk. Is there any way this gap could be filled?
  • 3047 Nicollet Avenue Minneapolis, MN - Lyndale
The northbound 18 bus has to make a right turn from NB Nicollet Ave to eastbound 31st Street. Unfortunately, Nicollet has been reconstructed with a very tight curb radius at this intersection that makes the bus unable to easily make this turn. If there is a vehicle in the left-turn lane (WB 31st st, preparing to turn to SB Nicollet), it must back up or otherwise negotiate with the bus to make room. The bus also frequently goes up on the curb, making for a bumpy ride and endangering pedestrians. Is there any way this could be fixed? Or could the stop line for cars on WB 31st St at least be moved back, so the bus has room to make its wide turn? This is an issue for almost every northbound 18 bus.
  • 101 West 29th Street Minneapolis, MN - Whittier
A No Turn On Red sign is needed to clarify that left turns on red are not legal at this intersection. (W 29th St has a contra-flow bike lane, making it not a complete one-way street. Left turn on red from a 2-way to a 1-way is illegal.) I frequently see the 18 bus make this left turn, and I worry that this could endanger cyclists attempting to turn off Blaisdell onto the contra-flow bike lane.

  • 316-358 Hennepin Avenue Minneapolis, MN - Downtown West
The green arrow/pedestrian signal combinations do not function properly at this intersection, or at many of lights along Hennepin. Regardless of whether the green arrow comes at the beginning or end of a cycle, the pedestrian signals on both sides display a "don't walk" symbol, even though pedestrian crossing is only incompatible on one side. On Marquette and 2nd, pedestrians continue to receive a "walk" signal on the side that is not in conflict with a green arrow.
  • 117 North 2nd Street Minneapolis, MN - North Loop
The pedestrian signal facing westbound pedestrians on the north leg of the intersection is malfunctioning. Instead of doing the full countdown, it just sticks on "5" for many seconds, before jumping to "0". Earlier today, it was stick on "16", even when displaying the "walk" signal.
  • 6132-6158 Portland Ave S Minneapolis, MN - Diamond Lake
I am not sure if these sidewalks are the responsibility of Minneapolis, Richfield, or MnDOT, but the sidewalks on the Portland bridge over Crosstown Hwy/TH62 are impassable. They do not appear to be cleared at all, and have a lot of extra messy debris from the roadway.

  • 747 E 60th St Minneapolis, MN - Diamond Lake
There's a new bike lane on E 60th St btwn Nicollet and Chicago. Great, but there's no "no parking" or "bike lane" signage to back it up. As a result, cars frequently park in the north-side (west-bound) bike lane. It appears that there should be "no parking" signage on both sides of the street between Nicollet and 35W, and on the north side between 35W and Chicago Ave. The bike lane is away from the curb on the south side, and presumably parking is fine there.
  • 2820 Hiawatha Ave Minneapolis, MN - East Phillips

The pedestrian clearance interval (countdown time) starts at 26 seconds, yet the intersection is approx 160 feet wide. At the 4 ft / sec standard, my understanding is that this should be giving approx. 45 seconds.

It also took torturously long to get a signal at all -- enough so that two bikers gave up and started going up the west-side sidewalk of Hiawatha. But that seems to be par for the course with these signals.

  • 6010-6098 Lyndale Ave S Minneapolis, MN - Windom
It's very unclear how many driving lanes there are on Lyndale Ave between Crosstown Hwy and W 58th St. There are four marked lanes from Crosstown to just before W 61st St. Then I'm not clear if it becomes one lane in each directions, or if it's still two in each and the dashed white lanes are faded. It would be very helpful if a MERGE sign could be added at 61st St, or (if it is supposed to be 4-lane), the white long-line striping could be refreshed.
  • 1-99 E 18th St Minneapolis, MN - Stevens Square
Pedestrian signal for eastbound pedestrians on the north side of the intersection is out -- at least the WALK signal is; the DON'T WALK hand may be as well.

  • 742 E Minnehaha Pkwy Minneapolis, MN - Northrop
I was on the Minnehaha bike trail on the southeast corner of the intersection. I hit the button to cross westbound. I eventually got a green, but was still seeing a red hand. Like 99.5% of pedestrians/bikes, I went anyway. It would be really nice to just do away with the buttons and have automatic cycle. If not, at least fix this button!
  • 255 2nd Ave S Minneapolis, MN - Downtown West
There is BIKE LANE ENDS sign for northbound traffic, just south of Washington. It's a rather taunting reminder that there is no longer a bike lane on 2nd Ave.

    2633 1st Ave S Minneapolis, MN 55408, USA - Whittier
The northbound bike lane is completely within the "door zone" of the parking lane (between E 28th St and Franklin). The picture shows a fairly small car with door open, and yet even this could at least catch the handlebars of a bicyclist riding on the far left of the lane -- to say nothing of folks riding in the middle of it! Could the parking lane be moved to the southbound side?

Bike lane disappears at curb bumpouts at 6th St and 7th St. Hazardous to have to suddenly merge into traffic.
