Some time ago I asked the city and Community Connector to establish a bus stop at the main entrance to Acadia Hospital which, I am happy to say, has been done. Thank you. The other safety issue is that of a lack of crosswalks from the bus stops to the Hospital entrances. City buses do not have the same rules as school buses-disembarking passengers must walk behind the bus to cross. This practice creates a blind spot from which oncoming traffic from both directions can not be seen without stepping into the roadway. Furthermore, cars are allowed to pass the bus thereby increasing the danger to pedestrians. As this seems to be a 'one step at a time'process'-eventually orange cones in the walkways-and dare I suggest-warning lights at those stops would be in order. Thank you for your consideration . There are no crosswalks on Stillwater Avenue where the city bus drops off at Acadia Hospital. Furthermore, the city bus does not stop at the designated bus kiosk at the main entrance to Acadia Hospital. There are no traffic indicators that the bus will be stopping at the lower drive in to Acadia warning motorists that the bus will be stopping and that passengers will be disembarking behind the bus to cross Stillwater onto the Acadia Hospital campus.
