Thanks! Thanked!183 Harlow Street Bangor, Maine
There is a shopping cart full of belongings with a tarp on it under the trees, next to the fence between the library and the schoolhouse apartments. Someone has abandoned this. It needs to be removed as we have no idea if these items are safe, stolen, or if someone is setting up a homeless camp. There is frequent activity in the woods behind this are at night.

There are no crosswalks on Stillwater Avenue where the city bus drops off at Acadia Hospital. Furthermore, the city bus does not stop at the designated bus kiosk at the main entrance to Acadia Hospital. There are no traffic indicators that the bus will be stopping at the lower drive in to Acadia warning motorists that the bus will be stopping and that passengers will be disembarking behind the bus to cross Stillwater onto the Acadia Hospital campus.

Cross Walks on both side of Ohio Street in front of The Rock Church is is never shoveled out. Also need a cross Walk Sign. I am in a power chair and we have to go in the road on Thursday Nights, as this is when we go to Church. It is not safe.
Another issue is that no one stops to let us cross, we have almost gotten hit 3 times in the past 2 months. One time When we almost got hit was in the day time. Something needs to be done about this problem.

People keep parking illegally in handicap spots. Just the other day we saw an old rusted blue jeep park in a handicap spot with not special plates, stickers, and no handicap sign hanging from the review mirror. The man driving walked from his vehicle into Hanndords without the aid of any canes, crutch, walker, or stroller, and he didn't walk with a limp at all. We've called Hannafords before and the PD but they can't watch the area all the time. But we think something should be done about it. We got the license plate of the last guy it was "260 TL" blue jeep. Looked so rusted that we were surprised it would pass inspection. No sign what so ever that it was the vehicle of an actual handicap person.

A light green Volvo SUV 4 door hatchback is parked in two parking spaces. One of which is Handicap. There is no handicap plat or sticker, or hanging badge in the window so I'm assuming that the driver/owner is not handicapped. The license place number is "SPG 1". There is a bumper sticker to the left of the hatchback near the window that reads: "Proud parent of Bangor High School Honor Student". This is around 9am to 9:30am Friday March 30s. Ive seen this vehicle use this parking lot lots of times so it's not like they are new to the area and full well know that this is a handicap spot. and are in fact parked in two parking spots. See attached pic.

10 square feet of several layers of asphalt are missing on the downhill side of the road. This causes downhill drivers to swerve into the other lane on a blind corner (uphill lane). This is a big safety issue due to inconsiderate drivers.

When Broadway and Somerset St. cross near John Bapst high school there is a dangerous and ambiguous intersection that needs both a traffic light and a cross light for pedestrians. Where Broadway is actually split into two different streets that enter an abiguously wide area where the two halves of Broadway funnel into 1 street there is also a curved area where broadway turns right onto Somerset. Somerset crosses straight through the whole mess. This is a very dangerous area where I avoid walking as I've almost been hit by traffic many times of the years. Also there are other local businesses that have driveways and a parking lot near by that enter that area. Also the high school which gets very busy. With Bangor putting up tons of traffic lights you'd think that a place as dangerous as that would have one. I think this is the place where a man recently got hit by a vehicle and is now in the hospital. This is a rather vague and abiguous area where traffic often travels very fast and beside the stop sign on Somerset there is really no discernible right of way in such a mess as that. I can see where if someone doesn't know the area this intersection(s) can be pretty hairy. I've always thought it was strange I haven't seen more accidents on that corner or some young kid get killed as he or she is walking home from school so it was not a surprise when I read about Leon Shtivelman getting hit by a vehcile while trying to cross the street. Even with the cross walk it's very dangerous, and most drivers in Bangor don't seem to like people using cross walks, they hardly ever stop for us unless we are already in the street and even then they fly past us as if they don't see us or don't want to see us. It also doesn't surprise me that a research study by insurance .com has reviled that in 2010 Bangor Maine made the top 10 Cities in the USA for dangerous driving. Anyway, like I said with Bangor obsessing over traffic lights every 10 feet you'd think they would have a traffic light where it's actually needed. There are places where it doesn't even seem logical to have a light yet there are very dangerous and sketchy areas like the corner of Broadway and Somerset. This was clearly an intersection made back in the time of horses and not meant for the vehicle traffic of today. It's poorly constructed. Please report this extremely dangerous area so that that will put up a traffic light.
