Thanks to the City of Bangor and the Community Connector for recognizing citizen concern for safety for disembarking passengers at Acadia Hospital on Stillwater Avenue.We now have a designated bus stop at the main entrance to Acadia as well as the lower entrance to the methadone clinic. That having been accomplished, I still have safety concerns about the lack of crosswalks at both bus stops.Crossing behind the bus-which is required-leaves disembarking consumers to cross in blind spots where cars can not see you and disembarking passengers can not see approaching traffic. Community buses do not have the same safety requirements that school buses have. No signs for-Do Not Pass while stopped and discharging it's riders. We need crosswalks and dare I ask for even more?warning lights. Crosswalks And warning lights-or at least cones in the crosswalks warning drivers to stop for pedestrians.
