This intersection is heavily used by both pedestrians and vehicles. For example there is no reason why the pedestrian signal for crossing Reed St NE is times to 25 sec while the light is green for 1.5 min and there are no green turn arrows for vehicles.

In this time crews have been operating a jackhammer to remove the concrete flooring and have been breaking out four 3 ft wide holes in the brick exterior of the building. They have discarded broken glass on the sidewalk along 12th St as well. The area is not secure and anyone could gain entry through one of the holes in the wall. The work is ongoing.
