Question: how does the state, or private business or any other property owner know about these things if no one reports it? Even if reported here, how will the responsible parties be alerted?

Update: This hole is not on state property, but rather it belongs to the old office supply company. However, the state has alerted the owners and is working with them to fix hole.

One way they can be alerted is by driving into a hole that is not barricaded. I put this here because the hole has been present for several weeks without anything happening. If it takes public shaming to make something happen, so be it.

What I meant by my question is how do they get alerts from SeeClickFix? Or even know there's a problem on their property? Does someone from SCF hunt down the owners and tell them?

That's a good question. If they do not know of a problem on their own property, though, that says something about them as owners. So much of the city blight problem is because of absentee landlords who either don't know or don't care about the condition of their property. I posted this here because I know that some people from the City get this message. I don't know that I was expecting anything to be immediately fixed; I mostly just wanted this to go on the record. And I like how Seeclickfix is transparent and public, while 311 is not

There are more visible cones and tape around this spot now. That's a good start.

To update, this hole has still not been repaired.
