They probably close it because you are reporting flooding as a pavement cave-in.

Also, most drains in Chicago have restrictors in them to prevent the pipes themselves from not being inundated. This inherently leads to street flooding during large storm events.

I would recommend that you send this in an email to the alderman. Fully describe the area, the history of issues, and attach all the photos you may have. The alderman should at least be able to get you an explanation of whats going on and/or why it hasn't been fixed yet.

In 2013 as part of Participatory Budgeting, the community voted to use menu funding to install a greenway along Leland to improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and address flooding, puddling, and stormwater issues. I took the attached picture this morning. The entire block on the south side of the street is affected.

Its been done in person at the Aldermans office with each on line complaint. There is not an option for reporting flooding or clogged storm drains on the online form.

It would be nice not to tap into that fund to fix a deferred / ongoing street storm water maintenance issue.
