A preliminary traffic assessment was conducted based on Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) guidelines as outlined in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). The assessment included a review of the intersection’s crash history. Based on JCPD crash reports, this intersection does not meet the minimum FHWA threshold for major crashes to warrant a change in traffic control. Therefore, we do not recommend the construction of a traffic signal at this location at this time. However, we will reassess this intersection to determine whether or not an all-way stop control is warranted.

@Marissa - I agree with you that this intersection desperately needs a stoplight. In general many accidents go unreported either because the damage is minor and/or drivers don't want to go through insurance. One way to build the case would be to take photos and document accidents and near misses as they occur. Based on your name and passion for this, I take it you live nearby. Next time you see an accident or near miss occur, be sure to document it and provide that documentation in follow up requests!
