Speeding cars on 8th Street make it very difficult to cross 8th at Haight Avenue. Seldom will a car stop for a pedestrian (as required by law); you must wait for a break in the flow of traffic.

Thank you for your comment regarding the intersection of 8th St. and Haight Ave.
Although there are no crosswalks at this intersection, this does not precluded a motorist from having to stop for pedestrians crossing the street. With that being said, it also does not relieve a pedestrian from their duty of using due care for his or her safety. No pedestrian may suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety and walk into the path of vehicles close enough to constitute an immediate hazard.
For those who feel safer crossing 8th St. within the painted lines of crosswalks and traffic controls lights, the intersection one block north of Haight Ave (8th St. @ Lincoln Ave) and the intersection one block south of Haight Ave (8th St. @ Santa Clara Ave) have both.
Regarding the speeding vehicles: I will place the 1500 block of 8th St. on the Alameda Police Department's Traffic Division complaint log and ask that both patrol officers and the motor officer monitor this area utilizing radar.
If you have any other concerns regarding this intersection, please feel free to call me.
