Description
On January 30 I purchased an item from the 99 Cents Power store located at 859 Kearny Avenue for $1.04. When I got it home I discovered the item would not work for me. On the following Saturday, February 1, I returned to the store to request a refund. I was told no refunds. They told me they only give exchanges. I did not see any signs in the store stating this policy (in fact if I saw such a sign the first time I went to this store, I would have never purchase anything). I have purchased many items from this store in the past and have returned some for refund without any problems. When the store personnel told me I could only get an exchange, I was quite angry and left the returned item at the store without getting anything in return. How can this store get away with this policy? Isn't this a violation of some NJ consumer laws? I will be filing a formal complaint with NJ BBB and the Hudson County Prosecutor's office.
