I diligently cleared my sidewalk of all snow and ice, both during and after the recent snow storm. I awoke this morning to find my sidewalk on the Upson Terrace side covered with snow and blocks of ice from the city snow plow. I tried to shovel it, but it is so heavy I cannot manage it. (I am a 60 year old female.) I am so upset because it is very dangerous for me and for others. Can the city do anything? I do not think this snow will melt soon, even with the warm days. I do not feel I should be held responsible as I did clear the snow and the Upson Terrace side was as clear as the Woodward Avenue side.

Same thing happens on Willow St. Landlords and residents shovel and clear sidewalks, then the city plow pushes tons of dense, wet snow, salty, black slush, and huge chunks of ice onto the sidewalk. Thanks guys! The speed of the plow truck has even thrown the frozen gutter slime onto my house, twelve feet from the curb. Can't wait to move.

What do you want the plows to do? Not plow the streets? You have done your duty by clearing. I would say youhave a defense should there ever be a lawsuit. I don't see a way to resolve this.

TC, there is a way to make it better if not resolve it. The plows need to SLOW DOWN. The faster they go, the more snow spray and the further it spreads. On Townsend they (state trucks) blow thru the stop sign at Parker Pl to maintain their speed. Going the speed limit would cut down on the amount of snow redeposited on people's walks. And keeping the sidewalk clear is not just about avoiding a lawsuit, it is about public safety and not forcing pedestrians onto busy roads.

I am not a snow plow driver and I presumed that an amount of speed was necessary to push the snow with enough force. Where I live, by Parker, there is no way not to throw snow on the sidewalks, no matter how slow they go. So what do you suggest we do to slow the plow trucks down?
