Description

The sidewalks are in terrible shape! My kids constantly trip over the cracks and bumps. Maybe the city needs a law suit to take care of them.

The city has a co-op with the sidewalk area. Which as I have understood means you are responsible for maintaining the sidewalk and the area between the sidewalk and the road, but the city owns it. So I don't think a law suit would work in your favor. It is a little unclear to what extent you are responsible for maintaining the sidewalk, but again I'm sure if you tried to sue them they would make it clear its now your responsibility. We had a tree on my street come down in sandy and made a 3' ramp with the sidewalk and it took the city at least 6 months to come fix that.

Send the City a dated photo by certified mail with your attorney's card attached. When someone does fall, bring suit against the City. If they have time to put granite curbs in front of burned out buildings, they have time to attend to the East Shore, where many taxpayers live. Keep up the pressure and take names and dates of contact.
