Description
Some homeowners have lobbied the city to construct a rotary ( too little space, speed bumps or a raised structure to impede ( they say "slow down" ) the traffic here. With the snow having a similar effect, traffic on Edwards st has been a nightmare, and altercations are becoming common. Luckily, however, there are still no accidents reported. The city can use the allocated $200,000-$300,000 on some more useful project.

Probably a "Robbing from a Peter to pay Paul". Stop signs were mentioned for here and the City wanted to one up it ...No accidents have happened over here, no speeding tickets. Although when the light at Edwards and Orange went to flash at 11pm there was a few.
But the funny thing was the scheming over condo conversion of that Baptist church on the corner, offers were made, City Seedling Scemers were planted in basement. That church and whatever those apts/condos are will lose a few parking spaces.

I agree that in general, lower-cost traffic calming measures, which are used in cities around the globe, are needed if we're ever going to rebuild streets throughout New Haven to a progressive design standard. The city's current plan allows no more than one or two of these per year, so it would take at least 200 years to have enough citywide.
Perhaps you would be interested in joining a panel to investigate lower cost options?
