Please fie a complaint with Code and Blight enforcement 510-238-3381 if they are still working? It up to a week for an inspector to out. They then have to give the private property 30 days to respond not fix the issues. If nothing is happening after 6 week call back. Make sure to find out who your inspector is and there number. The more concerned neighbor that complain the better.

"The Apgar Warehouse fire took place over 2 months ago, and not a hint of clean up has taken place. With piles of stuff as large as this, this location continues to be a fire hazard, not to mention the flies, pests and smells that are only getting worse by the day. Please hold the appropriate parties responsible for a timely clean up for our neighborhood, as well as for the safety of everyone nearby."

Squatting, graffiti and illegal dumping at the Apgar Warehouse

"At the end of last year, there was a fire in Apgar Warehouse near the corner of Apgar and West in Oakland. Afterward, security came to patrol and a gate was put in around the warehouse to prevent people from coming in. As no one is there now, people are coming back, going in and out to fetch the trash and items inside of there, and to sleep there. There is a hole in the gate that opens up to the driveway next door, which people have also been using to go in and out. A car was parked just in front of the warehouse today, and the gate came down on the car because it had been loosened. On top of that, this trash site is obviously unsanitary and a breeding ground for dangerous situations. Please address it. Even if we are in a pandemic, that is all the more reason to ensure the safety and well-being for everyone in proximity to this warehouse, so that another fire or something worse does not happen. Thank you."

"Apgar warehouse is open with fence broken through. Trash coming into street. Continues to be blighted. Contacted OPD".

Even after "Ghost Ship" the city has not learned anything. Those private property slum lords were never held accountable. Its been nearly six months since this fire. After 30 days the city should have cleaned the site and billed the property owners for the hazardous waste clean up plus what ever it cost the city in personal time.

Fire was end of last year (2019). 6 months later owner or the city has done nothing to abate the condition.

This is a disaster in the making. Write to code enforcement, the fire chief, the Oakland Fire stations 3,8,19, the new police chief, the mayor and c.c. to Kalb. Give them 5 days to reply. There may be someone who cares about public safety enough to fix this.

If that does not work the only recourse left for you and your neighbors is to sue the city. Then they will fix it. Make sure you have e-mail and paper trail for when you file the lawsuit against the building owner and the city. It won't go to trial, it will end in a settlement, and they generally fix the issue within days of you filing the complaint.

Sue the hazardous waste site. property owners. Sue the city is like suing ourselves.

If the city is sued won't they turn around and go after the property owners?

Next if NLC cannot help then sue the City and the owner. Once a lawsuit is filed against the city they will do what they should have done right after the fire and make Code and Blight enforcement do their job. Then you can drop the suit.

Alternatively, keep posting on SCF and nothing will happen.
