Cars are parked overnight on the street and plows can't do their job. Cars are parked on both sides of the street where most of the east side has sign, no parking. Who ever plows the Citi Bank parking lot pushes it in front of the post office. The parking spaces on Mechanicsville road are not plowed. Town of Islip plows need to plow around corners. They simply plow straight across corners and some one comes back later and pushes the snow on the corners straight back and after a couple of snow falls, there is no room for more snow. I can understand the need to contract private plows, but after the storm passes, large town plows should come along and push the snow back to the curb.

You are absolutely correct. I assure you, that Supervisor Nolan and this department will not tolerate this in any area of Islip Town. This winter was surely one for the record books and during the last few storms a huge obstacle was vehicles parked on the roadway limiting the effectiveness and ability for the Town to plow many roadways. Please speak with your neighbors and ask that during any future winter storms that they park in their driveway or make arraignments otherwise to keep the cars off the roadway. This will allow the Town to be much more effective during plowing operations.
I have spoken with your area Highway Coordinator and he has assured me he will monitor the area in the future and that this will not happen during any future storms.
