I used to reside on Dunlap and understand how you feel. When I first moved there, I was awakened by a young lady screaming about 3:30 am and heard quite a bit of commotion. After calling 911 3 x’s, they finally arrived with their sirens blaring and scared away the parties involved. Later on that week there was a news reporting of a young lady found deceased in a burning car 1.5 miles away the same morning. I reached out to the detective assigned to the case multiple times and never received a response. I followed the story and will never forget that. Almost made me feel guilty that I didn’t take matters into my own hands.

Diggerga, we were members since 2007. With the previous couple years of officers, wasn’t near the group we had years in the past. It’s all talk, nothing really gets accomplished, and even though public officials show up at the meetings.... blowing smoke at best to appease at the moment.

Nyah, I remember that. Just sad the unless EPPD hear shots fired, they respond when they want. When I called tonight, the dispatcher mentioned sending someone out last night. “There was no one there.” BS, because I witnessed the officer making contact with the couple in an argument, with an infant present in a stroller. Nothing done of course. These people are loitering, which their are signs all around our block saying it is illegal. My opinion, the staff zone on Dunlap is the problem. It is a cesspool of vagrants that have no respect for this neighborhood. They are just there to make a buck. I have emailed the CEO and the only thing that has happened is they sometimes park all their vans next to the building and not on the street, blocking traffic.

If nothing else meet and know your neighbors. Captain Drake participated in our Zoom Meeting this evening. We addressed gang tagging and speeding/speed humps. Next time you call the police ask the to file a report and ask for the report number.

Diggerga, I know many of our neighbors since living here for 13 years. I appreciate the suggestions, and actually, I’m the last person that spent $100 to clean, weed, and plant flowers under the welcome sign at Main and Vesta. We have volunteered both times that Trees Atlanta have come out, and help plant the dozens of trees down EP street and Church street.

And of course, there are already people starting to congregate/loiter at the closed down car wash. I should call it in now so by the time EPPD shows up in a couple hours, there will be the dozen plus people there that hang out every afternoon.
My biggest problem is not people gathering. If they want to and spread this virus, so be it. Fewer idiots on the streets if they pass it along. It is the yelling, cursing, arguing, fighting, and all in front of infants in strollers. From what I understand, that is third degree child abuse.
What happens then is if/when the police show up, it’s “shew away and go home,” no arrests made to make a difference. Then what happens? They keep coming back. I can’t enjoy an afternoon in my backyard without constant babies crying, F bombs NEI g dropped, yelling and screaming when they all sit around and get drunk.
Stopping at this.... I digress. Guess I’ll just have to live with the nonsense.

Thanks Taffini?! Hope the daily gatherings are ceased, so I can sit in my backyard without hearing the F bomb every other word, yelling, fighting, all while infants are present. Maybe soon, y’all will start enforcing the loitering law the city has in place.

Good Morning All. Bojames4477. I’m sorry you have to deal with that as I can relate when I lived near Showcase Restaurant. I walk the neighborhood quite often and will do my due diligence of reporting loitering and unlawful conduct. FYI - I talked to a friend of mine (Federal Agent) that advised me to reach out if there’s no resolution or updates provided by EPPD.

It’s not that I mind anyone hanging out, but when the screaming and yelling profanities, arguing with each other... just gets old. I’m afraid something will escalate one day and someone gets hurt.

Still loitering. Every day. Heard folks until 10-11 last night. People out there now yelling at each other.
Nothing like enjoying my backyard, birds chirping, squirrels chattering, and the frequent f-bomb and n-word mixed in. I thought the state’s “shelter-in-place” order meant people staying at home unless for “essential” business? You can’t congregate at church, but the car wash on Main Street is just fine!?

Taffini Giffie said right away, then passed it to Tommy Gardner. No response from him thus far. I understand it’s not a “shots fired” or “robbery in progress” call, but has gotten the same as a call this morning for a now federal felony act of animal cruelty, when a person threw their 6 lbs dog across the street.
This is why I’m so disappointed at our law enforcement, or lack of enforcement? Felonies don’t even spark their interest. Apparently someone has to be shot or killed to gain any attention. Of course, opinions stink, but this one is mine.

Car wash church congregation, day whatever because nothing happens. I can at least mow my backyard, to spend time in it. Why? Because with my earbuds in and the mower running, I don’t hear the yelling, screaming, profanities, arguing or anything else that may result in violence.

So I exercising my 1st amendment right, I was approached on public property and assaulted. Can an officer please respond to this?
