I understand why all the truck traffic is re routed from highway 55, through the overheight route, to hwy 2. However, at some point with all this truck traffic trying to cross 4 lanes of traffic, someone is going to get killed. I thought as soon as the city got the cameras working on the overpass that the regulation height trucks could start going under the overpass again. But this has never happened and trucks are still forced to use the overheight route. I see how that bridge can be easily hit, but a little better set up for overheight trucks would come close to solving the problem. If one truck did try and sneek under and he was overheight the camera would catch it, thus making that guy pay the bill to fix it.

Having all the truck traffic cross that busy highway is just a resipe for disaster. I know many truckers who refuse to travel that road because of that detour.

Save someones wife, father, or kids from being killed and let the regular (under hieght) trucks go under the bridge instead of crossing the highway.

All it takes is a truck to get part way out and spin out on ice to cause a serious accident.
