Pushing this button to cross Orange st at Crown does not work. The small red light does not light up and after two full cycles of the traffic light I got no walk sign.

More than a month later, this has not been fixed, as far as I can tell. Why? According to the New Haven Complete Streets Manual (http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/Engineering/pdfs/CS-Manual-FINAL.pdf) , New Haven policy "requires the accommodation of the safety and convenience of all users of the transportation system using a Complete Streets hierarchy of users,
which begins with pedestrians" (page 11) and "prioritizes walkability" (page 11).
Since reporting this issue, I have witnessed traffic lights on Chapel go out, and be fixed within 2 days. In the meantime, the intersections were marked as 3 or 4-way stops (with stop signs). Why, if pedestrian priority is truly the priority of the city transportation system, can we not fix a broken crosswalk button after more than a month?
