Description
There is a high risk of death or serious injury from cars veering into oncoming traffic to pass drivers by going over the double yellow line. I was nearly hit head on yesterday driving up Golf Links Road from the Oakland Zoo area. I had to brake hard to avoid it and was lucky no one was behind me and that I wasn’t a millisecond sooner up the road. I’ve seen it before and felt concerned and this was the closest I’ve been to being killed. I also have had people pressuring me by tailgating to pass a cyclist by going onto the opposite side of the road, but don’t do it because you can’t see if a car is coming due to the winding road. I can avoid driving the road myself but I have friends and family that use it and it should be a safe place to drive. I would like to see cameras placed on Golf Links Road between the Oakland Zoo and Scotia with signs that state that heavy fines will be imposed for crossing the line. I don’t want someone to die from this. Please help. It has frightened me since I moved to this house in 2006 and I pray it won’t be how I or someone I care about meets their end.
