The yellow light in this location is short and people blow through the red light making it very dangerous, especially for pedestrians crossing New Scotland Ave. There are also many people making an illegal right on red onto Buckingham.

The issue here is most likely a lack of enforcement of the traffic law at this intersection.

APD Traffic Engineering assigned this issue to Albany Police Department Administrator

A new traffic signal system is being construted at this location which will be completed by end of January. APD will monitor speeds through this intersection.

Traffic speed all along Berkshire Blvd is also an issue -- particularly during commuting hours.

The new design of that entire area (road and bike lanes) has traffic backed up all the way to Manning Blvd at times.

As long as we are talking about lights and turns, in particular left hand turns...
that intersection, as with so many others suffers from people crossing the
doulble yellow line and driving in the oncoming lane before even crossing the
stop line.

Is there anything that can be done about this? Perhaps start by identifying and ticketing
these vehicles using the camara system where it is available.
