The street appears to be wide enough to permit a conversion to a two-way street. That would help bicyclists and might slightly reduce speeds. If residents are concerned about increased traffic, the two-way conversion could be combined with diversions that effectively make the street two-way for local traffic but one-way, or even entirely unnavigable, to through traffic, except bicycles.

I like Brian Tang's suggestion. For property owners, I think that the benefits of having a quiet, safe street would more than outweigh the cost of giving up a few parking spaces to create chicanes and other simple calming measures. The whole area around Science Park really needs a comprehensive traffic management plan so that traffic calming can be applied in the most strategic way. I wouldn't want to do anything here without also taking a look at improving Winchester Avenue.

Fewer cars parked on the street this time of year translate into much faster speeds. Hope we can get some traffic calming soon! A curb extension at the corners of Compton and Woodland, and a speed hump (like those used on Perkins Street) would help slow traffic and improve safety.

The Yale shuttle buses go hurtling up Mansfield Street like it's a highway. Lots of bike riders and pedestrians here at all hours. Slow down, you guys!

Several vehicles were observed speeding through here this morning between 7AM and 8AM, almost crashing into adjacent vehicles.

Mansfield used to be a two-way "yield street" prior to the arrival of McGrath in the city administration. It was converted to one-way operation, which causes severe vehicle speeding.

For the record, living in this street, I don't think it seems feasible to go two way, especially during winter. As far as parking, it is a current necessity for many non Yale affiliated residents who need cars. there are not a lot of adequate driveways so parking is needed especially during winter. I do think that this is a great place to encourage biking!
