Prince Albert Police Sevice needs to go on a blitz to help get the message ot there. I would not be surprised if they have not even handed out one ticket for this yet.
I agree, I have scene way to many people still texting and talking on thier cell phones. However I do know a few people who have got a ticket. One from SASKTEL how ironic... anyways I do believe something has to be done because many of these people are teenagers still learning to drive or winter driving for the first time. The law is the law ENFORCE it. Like i mean sit at the Tim Hortons drink your coffee, spot a texter, radio ahead to a waiting police car and issue the ticket. Then to be fair because everyone needs coffee and donuts.... switch positions. The majority of the public will take the hint... or another ticket..which ever comes first.
Truue. I like to honk at the youngin's I see texting, just to startle them. But, really, this is an issue and because it is illegal it should be ENFORCED. Geez.
Are all the cell phone calls they make now, while driving, as important when they didn't have a cell phone? I saw a slide show in my email showing what was left of a man talking on his cell phone while driving....right into the back of a trruck.
OK seriously people prince albert has many more issues to deal with before we should worry about a fricken Cell phone.. as much as people want to think they are the root of most accidents they arent weather your talking or not if you can controll you vehical u shouldnt Drive!! and To the person who said its YOUNGENS i resent that 85% of people you see on their phones still are over 30 and that is far from YOUNGEN! also if you wanna Complain bout the general public maybe start at the sorce our Police, councel team, as well as many high power people in this city could not be bothered to put their cell down why should we if your not a good enough driver to talk while drive thats your own problem some of us can multi-task or even talk/ txt with out even looking away from the road. When our city is on a better route to fix the rest of the issues u people can conplain bout cell phones till now there are way bigger issues to deal with!!!
Funny, they did a thing on TV with these people who said that they can drive while texting....and guess what, when it came down to it, THEY COULDN'T!
It's B.S to say your full attention is on the road when you're texting! I think the biggest part of this law was the texting, not the talking. But in order to get rid of texters, they had to ban cell phone use while driving.
I watched a WOMAN stop in the middle of the lane to dial her phone. I've seen vehicles all over the road and when I get beside them I see them on their phones.
Blondie, it's pretty bad if you're trying to stand up for your generation but you can't get a point accross because no one can read your broken sentances and half-a**ed spelling. Grow up.
yes, i seen that thing it was listed on the show the Doctors and also you should know that the test subjects could not drive the simulator without the cell how could they do it with. And also about me needing to grow up with the way i write i will let you know in my 22 yrs i have seen and been through more than most 50 yr olds and i graduated with Honors, also was raised in the highest class of price a;bert sorry that i work a job where i dont have time to care about how i write on a fricken internet site, if i offened you i dont really care. I would like to see someone my age be half the adult I am thank you very fricken much. you need to keep you opinions to yourself about me as you dont know me from the hole in the ground im not sitting here beaking you dont do it to me thanks. and Like i said if people learned how to drive you wouldnt have ppl stopping to use their phone again the issue is the people not the cell thanks
It wasn't on The Doctors, it was Dr. Phil or Oprah I believe. Those were people who were convinced they could drive while texting, and failed miserably. Cell phones while driving are a problem and it has been proven, now we have a bigger problem, the r*tard people who just can't resist and now need to text and worry about hiding it at the same time. It's pathetic how dependant we are on technology. If civilization fell, I would be one of the few survivors.
.
If you want people to think you are mature, then maybe you should portray yourself as so. I don't care what you've been through, everyone has their own sob story. I'm the same age and have gone to University. But that is beside the point. I am appalled by the level of maturity our generation has.
So if you think you're an adult, then quit being a whiny baby because your infantile whining will not change the cell phone laws, because it is proven they are a distraction.
If the cops are going to give out tickets for talking on the phones dont u think that every body should stop talking on there phones. Y do u see the cops talking on there phones and the bylaw officers they think thay can drive better then everybody else.I THINK THEY ARE THE SAME AS EVERYONE OUT THERE DRIVING
I completly agree with Blondie to a point. I have been stopped and received a ticket for cell phone use however, if they could see me drive while trying to work a bluetooth device, they would have given me a ticket for that instead. I am horrible at using my bluetooth to the point where I am almost causing accidents. I have been using a cell phone while driving for the last 15 yrs and have NEVER had an accident. I can see it a problem for youth drivers being new and nervous while driving but don't hold us all responsible, if they r on their cells and are below a certain training experience, treat them to a higher punishment but not us oldies. I kinda can't wait for the day I do cause and accident and say "I was on my BLUETOOTH". Frick, there are cops who drive while on the computer!
Police are aloud to as long as it's work related. It doesn't matter WHAT age you are, you are distracted by talking on the phone. They encourage blue tooth even though it's still a distraction because they can't pull you over with proof you were distracted by a blue tooth device. In a perfect world, all distractions would be eliminated from the vehicle. It's up to the driver to have COMMON SENSE when driving.
I think that there should be RE-TESTING and STRICTER driver tests to get the morons off the road.
i used to be pretty good at texting while driving before i got my tough screen phone i could text with one hand and not even have to look at the screen i drove pretty good with one hand i didnt cause any accidents cause my eyes were always on the road but their was this one time some jerk almost t boned my truck i had at the time cause he wasn't looking where he was going and he wasn't even on a cell phone but i see what your saying i also dont think police should be using thier cell phones while driving they have radios in their cars for communication
I agree to a point. However, I have some trouble seeing the difference between talking on your phone, and using one hand to drive while talking to the person in your passenger seat or to the kids in the back seats. I don't really see a difference. Both cases are only using one hand, and both cases your mind is elsewhere. Some people may argue that you use two hands while driving and talking to the passengers. However, I have seen tons of people only driving with one hand.
I really don't see much of a difference.
how is talking on a cellphone any worse then driving a standard truck like i do if you think about it driving a standard takes a lot more skill then driving an automatic car your still driving with one hand on the steering wheel as well as clutching accelerating breaking and shifting if you could do all that while talking on a cellphone id say go for it
ok really people lets face the facts talking on your cellphone is dangerous. But so is drinking coffee, controlling kids in the back seat, the radio, eating food as well as all the bright signs around the city. So are you gonna try to tell me that i can not do that in my car now too. Texting is dangerous i however disagree with talking on the phone being banned. I have seen so many people cut people off or slam on the brakes to answer a phone. Is that not more dangerous then answering me phone? Please tell me how this is logical. Or how about kids that are running out on the streets to play chicken with cars. And ive seen so many older people on their phones cutting people off. So its not just the younger generation.
they don't care and police don't have the power to enforce this law.statistics now reveal cell use while driving now rivals deaths and accidents while diving drunk.
I agree. People there are laws that have to be abided by.I hope everyone abusing these laws will someday be stopped and fined, then maybe they would learn a lesson, but I wouldnt hold my breath.People are just plain ignorant.
I wish that I would have had an opportunity to read these PA Now posts before moving to Prince Albert. This city seems to have so many issues, and so few solutions. Although this forum has many benefits, I often wonder how many people stay away because of the many problems here. The distracted driver problem in Prince Albert goes far beyond the cellphone law. In less than five minutes on the road, anywhere in town, I see some stupid dangerous stunt by someone failing to pay attention to the road. Throughout history, things only improved when the civilized outnumbered the barbarians. Enough said.
