The path, leading into the park, needs a layer of gravel or mulch to stop the erosion and runoff.

The pavers need to be reset - higher - so that water will drain off to the curb. The crosswalk button switch pole (surrounded by asphalt) was installed shortly AFTER the pavers were installed, construction coordination please...

The Friends of East Rock Park Director of Work Projects and I were just talking about this issue. Ultimately we're trying to develop a plan to beautify and make more welcoming this corner, the intersection of Orange/English Dr., the Livingston/Cold Spring Corner and other spots.

The flooding and mud at this spot is a bit difficult to tackle - regrading would be particularly expensive but what we can do is try to stop the source which is the soil from the path from running down. Our Director of Work Projects has recognized the issue. We'll keep you in the loop.

did FERP come up with a good solution for this?
What about just mulch & gravel? maybe a run-off ditch?

It looks like it would require a redesign by the city since most of the area is cobblestone and slopes toward the center. That would clearly be pricey but something we should be lobbying the city about.

I'll reach out to Ranger Dan and see what we can come up with as a temporary fix.

Not sure why the issue was closed. Sorry I haven't figured out the best way to approach this one yet. Ranger Dan is well aware of the problem but the fix looks complicated - regrading and lots of money. Will continue to talk with the Parks Department about it...
