There was some patching of Eagle St. potholes in mid-February 2009 (I can't believe I have to specify the _year_), but it's still a terrible drive. And I should amend my initial post -- it's really two short terrible blocks.
I thought Eagle was a one way, the little part between Mechanic & Nash is, not sure about the 25 yards of street between Foster & Nicoll
The Cuntois bar would'nt object.
That's not a lot of street is right ,should'nt take much
I think the street should remain potholed. At least that way people won't speed through and kill themselves.
In fact no streets in New Haven should be repaved until our city engineers learn how to design them so they are safe. Repaving Whitney Avenue was a big mistake and no doubt will directly lead to many deaths and injuries. The potholed street was fine, the repaved one will be a death trap.
Please look at what other cities are doing with their streets, and don't pave ours until you learn something about how to design streets (with curves, bumped out sidewalks, etc.) that have appropriate speeds.
I'm guessing you do not live on or near Eagle St., Samantha. Good luck trying to get to a speed greater than 30 mph in a 50 yard distance! A major artery (Whitney) vs a street for neighborhood access (Eagle) aren't in the same category. Both ends of the street are flanked by stop signs and one is terminal (thanks to a do not enter/one way sign). You need to take up your cause with a different official. In the interim, we need a repaved street.
If you lived here, you would see how the potholes extend the entire length and width of the small thoroughfare. Water collects making them a chain of great lakes that last days after storms. In winter, the whole street is a skating rink. Residents park their cars in potholes.
City officials, please consider this street for repair. Perhaps some stimulus money could be used before winter???
Won't you pwease, pwease fix our stweet? car go bump, boo hoo. That's right beg and plead - you'll get nothing anyway - you're not Johnny's friends, mafia, race baiters, or "community leaders" - *content removed. Your taxes have doubled and you want paved streets? hahahahaha. The city administration is doing such a fine job, they all got raises. Thanks for the tax money - *content removed - enjoy the bumpy ride.
That's the via del a rossi , when voting time comes i walk that trail of tears. Sadly that's exactly the way those feathered capped croonies like it...Way more sad and unfortunate is hearing the children scream and cry when turning onto Eagle from Foster, If they really knew ....... Looks like a City Dump truck with a load of flakes and political outcasts were unloaded - Maybe buy a monster truck
I use the street often - just saying, I'd prefer it to be left the way it is than paved and turned into a high speed road. As it is now, people don't stop at those stop signs you mention. Speed the road up even more, and a pedestrian or kid might die.
The potholes were fixed last week between Nicoll and Nash, but not between Foster and Nicoll. Evidently, there will be a skim paving this fall, but the total resurfacing will not be until after the school is rebuilt.
