I doubt if anything about this building/ business is in code Perhaps needs to be reinspected seeing how it is open to the public.

Besides the hazardous and illegal roof deck... Is there illegal signage in the form of graffiti? Shoddy construction? Junk stored outside the building within the setback or public right of way? This structure looks like blight on a main gateway to our city.

They've now added a kiddie pool onto the roof, and more trash around the property.

The "Ridin' High" site has trash, debris, and random stuff on the ground, on the roof, and tipped up against the building, especially on the north side within the setback in close proximity to neighboring residence...The place looks like a junk yard and fire hazard. Would like a status update on the multiple potential violations at and around this building.

To "concerned citizen" I would hate to break it you but the illegal signage in form of graffiti is actually artwork, done by multiple artists out of the city of Burlington. If you don't have a sense of what "art" really is maybe you need to get out a Dr. Seuss Book or take the time to actually walk by and check out the murals on the building. Maybe we should be more concerned with the sink holes down the street and less worried about the beauty of the changing artwork on buildings. Ridin High is well known as one of the most beautifully photographed buildings in the bright city. As for the "trash" items outside of the shop are being organized and towed away. The artwork of the snowboards surrounding the building not only help with keeping rain out, but also SAVE these snowboards from going into a landfill. Don't we live in a green state?

To williamshall, get a grip. If you have tell someone that something is "artwork" then it's not artwork. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and this isn't beauty. This looks like a garage sale gone terribly bad. And I'm sorry, but stacking snowboards against a building is not going to keep the rain out nor it is art. It's lazy, cheap and ugly.

Whether the decoration on the outside of the building is art or not is clearly up for debate. Long ago, a true street artist who worked in the Old School and Bubble styles told me "This sh*t don't belong on a CANVAS! If it ain't illegal, it ain't ART!". An interesting thought.

Whether this decoration constitutes signage and whether or not it therefore violates the municipal sign ordinance is the question.

I have to admit, the place is looking ill-kept otherwise.

The rooftop deck/rails were removed a few weeks ago and the activity has not continued. We have notified the police and we will continue to check the property if the materials return or the behavior repeats.
