The last time I saw these kids, they were northbound on Church Street at Chapel. They rode up on the sidewalks and started dashing around the bus shelters and I think out onto the Green itself.

Prior to that, I've seen them going northbound on Whitney, around Humphrey I think. That time they were dashing around cars and going through red lights, and I last saw them turning left onto maybe Canner, or around there.

Even prior to that incident, the first time I saw them was quite briefly on Trumbull Street, cutting around traffic at a stoplight. They went up towards State Street I think.

In general it's young, black kids with one or two girls on the back of their scooters. I really don't know if the scooters are stolen, but the broken off license plate brackets are pretty suspicious.

Seems that if the police are finally taking the illegal dirt bike and ATV activity seriously, it's time to add these punks on scooters to the list of scofflaws.
If some unsuspecting driver hits one of these scooter riders when they run a red light, I betcha the local activists will blame the driver, not the punk on the scooter.
Time to shut this down and investigate who owns the scooters, who are the parents, where do they live, why are these brats unsupervised ?

I saw them yesterday about 4:30pm on chapel st at the intersection where Cold spring School and that park are. Had to swerve to miss hitting one.

That sounds about the time of day that I often see them. And it's always roughly in that part of town (the State Street side of Downtown, or Whitney/East Rock, that locale). It does seem like if the police wanted to catch them they could do so...
