Clean Air Council is taking note of idling hotspots in Philadelphia to help Air Management Services target their enforcement of idling laws. Please continue to report idling at this location so that we can prioritize it.
Thanks for your help on this important issue!

Thanks for the response, Nick.
SEPTA buses continue to idle on the ramp and on Market & Front, daytime and evening.
Often, multiple buses sit idling next to each other (at Front & Market) or front to back (on the ramp).
Sometimes, buses park/idle directly in front of residential buildings on Market St. (124-126 Market St.) -- like the large accordian bus which idled there this AM.

As someone else mentioned in this post, septa buses (and other types of vehicles) often sit idling not just on the ramp, but in front of our building/s. You can see for yourself in this photo I took this morning.
Are city buses allowed to sit idling in front of residences like this? I see it happen about once a week in this spot.

This seems like a good location for a state no-idling sign. Clean Air Council will be in touch with the streets department to see if we can get a sign posted.
We will also alert SEPTA management about this problem, in addition to alerting Air Management Services about enforcement.
Thanks for posting!

The ramp & the area surrounding it is definitely an idling hotspot. The worst spot seems to be the bus stop at Market & Front. Every night buses idle here continuously for hours. One after the other. Often several at a time. The noise is a huge nuisance to the block in addition to the problem of air pollution.
Please ask SEPTA to stop idling in our neighborhood.
Thank you for your help.
