For the past few months, random people keep going through my apartment's garbage cans right out on the street!! Probably looking for bottles and cans!!
I'm sorry, but this is unacceptable! If you want to collect bottles and cans, go find some along the side of the road, in empty lots, or in abandoned yards-- don't go rooting through my GARBAGE CANS!
This is just downright disgusting and LOW-CLASS!!!
Why don't the police stop this kind of nuisance?!?!

This is a quality of life issue. Since most people bring the bottles back for the 5 cents, it makes me wonder what they are looking for in the trash ? Identity theft maybe ? And this is a gateway crime. People of this type in the area are not just looking through the trash, they are seeing who is home, is your car unlocked, maybe your basement door is not secured, anywhere that they can gain entry later.
Where I live, I have caught people taking the bags with them, obviously up to no good. If you can't lock the cans, or secure them, make sure you shread everything, or better yet, take it to work and throw it out there.
Better safe than sorry. I had my identity stolen and my bank account drained, in Cohoes, and when I reported it, I was told I was not the only one, and that several of my neighbors had the exact same things happen to them.
