Sorry. Its an ATV with the driver being an approx 14 year old Male who is wearing a helmet. Illegal as in not street legal, no exhaust, just straight pipe and speeding with what sounds like wide open trottle.

There is no such thing as a "street legal" ATV. They cannot be ridden on any street at any time in Connecticut (I am not a lawyer or a police officer, so don't take my word for it).

From the DMV web site:
"A registered ATV cannot be operated on a public highway except, if the ATV is operated by a licensed motor vehicle operator; it may cross a public highway (other than limited-access highway) at a 90 degree angle, after the ATV is brought to a complete stop. The driver must yield the right of way to motor vehicles using the highway and must cross in the direction of the highway at a location where no obstruction prevents a quick and safe crossing. "

The only legal place to ride an ATV is on land you own (or lease) and state parks that allow ATV riding.

Even if the purpose was to cross a public road, a 14 year is not allowed to do that as they don't have a driver's license.

The DEP has its own rules that further define acceptable behavior, and that includes the language about making excessive noise.

Another loud ATV without exhaust all weekend on Grace Lane & Buddington. Wonder if it was the same one.

Most probably. I do hear him off in that direction after he goes by my place. Usually he goes toward Huntington st early in day and comes home late from that direction. Sounds like he is getting onto 108 and then he reaches his destination.

Unfortunately, at some point something terrible could happen to this driver (and innocent people also). Like the kid in Derby near Osborndale that got killed a couple years ago.
And yes Art, it is an annoyance, AND illegal.

Fourwheeler stopped running the roads due to near accident. Probably hiding for now.
