This is an everyday thing not just today they sell on Hemingway and rosewood too we see them all the time it's a quiet area with hardly any police I live on rosewood I NEVER see a police car ever go by my house and the dealers know it they need to step up some presence in the area

did anyone call this description into the police? or are the patrol officers supposed to monitor this site 24/7 now too?

To smh: When someone reports a crime in an area the complaint is sent to the district sargeant, mayor and others. The compliant was more of an alert. Police weren't called because by the time police could respond, the involved parties would be long gone. The transactions take less than a minute, and one takes off on a motorcycle. No one expects the police to patrol the area 24/7. This particular district is 8 miles long. But if you read other SeeClickFix complaints in the area you will see that residents are complaining about the ineffectiveness of the response of the police. This section of the city is detriorating rapidly. Maybe the new mayor will allocate more funding so police can do a better job.

This is an issue that has to be dealt with - can neighbors get plate #'s? Can you report this also to the Bella Vista Mgmt? I have seen this on 1st Avenue, on Hemingway near Rosewood - day and night, from car to car, or from guy in hoodie waiting by side of rd to cars passing by. Can the NHPD nip this in the bud? I honestly don't even go for walks in my own neighborhood anymore, and I certainly would never go near Eastern St anymore.

Ward 11 Alderwoman is working with Sgt. Anastasio on this. Walking beat has been initiated. New sub station planned in old Bank of America site, and cops on bikes are set to go. Things are being done, including blockwatches being formed. But we have to stay on these isues and the police need to be made aware of things, and the thef police chief and mayor need to add more support to this area. I've seen walking beats, maybe they can concentrate on Hemingway,Rosewood, Eastern and 1St Avenue for a bit to clean it up. Also, Hidden Quarry area is getting worse.

Our police force in our district in particular is completely overwhelmed and understaffed. And due to that the "bad guys" are winning. The blatant drug dealing is happening throughout Fair Haven. I have it on Quinnipiac, Lenox, Clifton, Lexington and Grand Avenue. Along with the warmer weather the prostitutes are out too. I agree a new mayor and more police are the key. There is NO fear instilled in these people, no fear of getting caught, no fear of the police. They know that New Haven does not have the time or resources to deal with " petty" crimes. This city is going to hell quickly. In the 13+ years I have lived here I have not seen a worse last two years.

No I'm not saying 24/7 but it would be nice to see a squad car drive thru the area once in awhile I have lived here nine years and can count on my fingers the number of times I have seen an officer on my street we pay taxes too and yes this was addressed with the alder woman. The drug dealers are quick they do their business and go and several times they are seen day and nite no specific time. I gave great neighbors and its quiet its just the trash that comes thru on a daily basis that is troubling

I don't blame you my alarm is set and doors locked at all times never used to feel that way, I see more unsavory carachters roaming the neighborhood than ever they all come from the projects on eastern street I believe and the apts on Russell st. It's a shame up until a year or so ago I never worried now its time to sell the house and get the hell out of the city before something happens that's if you can find a buyer

With issues like this you would be better off calling Sgt, Vinny Anastasio 203 946-7163 then posting here, you don't know if the bad guys view this site. Also Sgt Anastasio is great to work with and he really cares.

Plate numbers mean nothing I'm sure the cars are not even registered its really a shame for all the elderly in the area not to be safe. Walmart has a cop and security most days now how sad that it has to be that way I won't go there myself I go to Wallingford it's not safe in there at anytime like bunch of wild animals running around all times of the day sad really sad

I meant, are they supposed to monitor this site, not are they supposed to monitor the area? You have to call the activity into the department, or they won't know it's going on. Since they can't be there all the time, call it in when it is happening...

I spoke to the walking beat officers this afternoon. They actually read the complaints from SeeClickFix. I agree that we all should keep calling incidents in. Even if the police can't get here in time there will be a record and that may persuade the chief to assign more help in this area. I encourage everyone to form a block watch. There's going to be a public safety meeting at 1 Union Ave at 5 pm at police HQs. People from this area might want to attend.

I agree. Walmart on RT 80 is awful and scary. Most of the employees are no better than the customers. If I go there I do it early 7:30 AM. Most of the scum sleeps till noon. The problem for Walmart is most of the employees sleep till noon.

I would hope Sgt Anastasio is monitoring this discussion and I do not need to call him. It is clear that the area surrounding Bella Vista is deteriorating quickly. Clinton, Russell, Rosewood, 1st Ave, Hemmingway, etc are all becoming streets of the dealers choice because they have been forced to move on from other high crime areas. And the lack of police makes this area easy picking. I have never before witnessed the amount of gangster rap music blasting from cars with dark tinted windows before. It won't be long before there is a drug / gang related shooting and murder in the area.

I am monitoring your discussions ...first, there has been a walking beat on eastern street for the past 3 months ...there has never been a walking beat there ever..secondly, that walking beat will now be on bicycles so that get around the area as quick as possible and consume a much more bigger territory..they are aware of all the issues in the neighborhood and they have made numerous arrests in the area pertaining to the drug activity..third, there will be a Police substation in the Bella Vista complex as soon as Carabetta sets it up...it will be in the space that has been vacated by the Bank of America...The reason why the dealers are moving from area to area or street to a different street is because we the Police have made an impact on their activity..the fact is there are more of them than us...we will do our best with what we have but if you want to know what is going on in your neighborhood and with the Police come to a meeting or call the substation number 203-946-7163.

The issue is still going on. Apparently Carabetta Management does not want block watches at Bella Vista, just as they would not allow the Guardian Angels to patrol the area on behalf of requests from the residents there.Carabetta wants prospective tenents to believe that they are in a safe and secure community. That is simply not true. The guy on the bike now drives up into the Bella Vista complex, instead of conductiong drug transactions on the street.The people who live in Bella Vista, the private security people who work there, and Carabetta Management know there is a problem, but nothing is being done to address it.

Bella Vista is aware of the problem and the new substation at Bella Vista will most likely curtail the problem once it is up and running.
