I also got one of those. I was in ear shot of the car at all times and had a licensed driver in the car who could have moved it if there was a fire or any kind of emergency. They didn't care. I don't even think their fire hydrant was in service, and it certainly is not a "route" to anywhere. I believe that treating customers like that will come back to bite them as I for one, and my mother for 2, feel angry at the whole place and have decided to try to avoid going there if we can avoid it.

Same thing today. Parking lot was full to the brim with cars waiting for spots in every lane. I parked in a striped zone at the end of the lane (along with a lot of other people too) and got ticketed. The ticket was crumpled up under my wiper and I almost didn't even see it. I can understand a fire lane being right in front of the buildings, but at the far end of the parking lot???? Really Toronto???? No wonder people dislike meter maids. I am going to go back and take photos of the immediate area and see if in fact there are signs or not. If not, you can bet I will fight this.

I just got the same ticket yesterday. $250 for parking in a fire zone in the shops on Don Mills parking lot. The ticket was also crumpled up under the wiper (I presume so other people don't see it, and park in other similar spots). No signs up anywhere. I will definitely fight this one, and would be grateful for any posts from previous people who have tried - though I realize it take s 4-8 months to get a court date.

I parked in the "yellow striped area" at the end of the parking lane. They've put the fire route signs only at some of these lanes but not the ones with the yellow stripes. You are actually not blocking anything and they could've easily made this small area into another 2 extra parking spaces.
I've got a $250 park in fire route ticket and filed it for court.
I went to court today hoping the officer wouldn't show up but she actually did with an attitude problem. I tried to make my point to her before the court session but she was trying to tell me that it's still considered a fire route.
I told her I'll take my chances at trial. The whole trial took maybe 2 mins, once the prosecuter noticed the address and the area. Case got dropped right away. Apparently that whole plaza has confusing fire route signs all over.... so if you do end up getting one of these tickets I suggest you take it to court, you'll most likely save yourself $250.
