Description
The playground equipment at this park worn to the point that it is unpleasant for kids to use. Paint is chipping and flaking off; kids have vandalized the equipment with markers and burned holes with lighters; the wood is so weathered that my son regularly gets splinters; safety rails are spaced wide enough for kids to fall through; the sand is overgrown with weeds. The list is long.
What it comes down to is that, for the number of kids that live in this neighborhood, it seems that we should have some playground equipment that is safe for them to use.

Been a few years since I first posted this, and the playground has deteriorated even more. Now there is missing equipment, even more broken boards.... I've even heard that it's so dangerous that the DPW folks wouldn't let their kids play on it. It's !@#$% embarassing.
To the city staff, you've got to do better than this if we want to stop residents from moving to Berkley/Birmingham/Royal Oak once their kids turn 5! Instead, we keep plowing money into the DDA, like idiots. The only reason we haven't lost more residents is because the real estate market tanked. Come on, Ferndale!
