West Haven continues to destroy itself through bad planning and zoning, i.e. chasing big box store development, reliance on cars for transport, and neglecting pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and, in the case of this proposed asphalt plant, destroying the environment and the local economy.

Connecticut's 2009 environmental justice law requires a transparent public participation process and community benefits negotiation for polluters trying to locate in environmental justice communities (including West Haven). Unfortunately, I believe that asphalt and concrete plants were exempted from the law due to intense lobbying by the industry. The West River is already one of the most polluted waterways in greater New Haven due to CSOs -- adding more pollution would be a terrible mistake and negatively impact people on both sides of the river.

this is an important issue. new haven has worked to reduce pollution from power plants and other point source polluters. our efforts are useless if west haven develops a project like this.

BTW, the SCF tag "Pothole" doesn't apply to this issue. An appropriate tag would be "pollution"
