It really gets under my skin how so many people (even this website) calls Route 9 "New Loudon Road" when the correctly marked name is "Loudon Road." I challenge ANYONE to find a street sign with the name New Loudon Road on it! It's just so stupid how so many people AND businesses call this road by the wrong name.

James,
The correct name of the road IS "NEW Loudon Road" for that area which you designated.
From the intersection of Route 155, all the way under the Latham Traffic Circle, and up to Route 9R (Columbia Street), the proper name of the road is "NEW Loudon Road."
The southern section of Route 9, headed past Siena College towards Albany, as well as the northern section of Route 9, past Guptill's Skating Park, all the way to the Crescent Bridge, are just "Loudon Road".
Before the 4-lane section was built under the Latham Traffic Circle, (what is now called "OLD Loudon Road"), it was the only way to go through that area, because it connected to both other ends (the section behind LaQuinta Inn and Price Chopper).
Then, when the 4-lane section was built, it was called "NEW Loudon Road" in order to differentiate between the two.
I worked in two different businesses along that section, and both of their addresses were on "NEW Loudon Road", even according to the 911 Emergency System.
I do agree, however, that it is extremely confusing to many people who are unfamiliar with this area, because the street name signs are very unclear about this, and most of the intersections which should have the proper names, do not.
