Town green what are your thoughts?

When they feel like it.
Until then, suck it up and walk.
Sorry to be brutalist.
Facts are facts.

i think this is a good idea, doug. new haven could use more public art in general, especially at highway overpasses that divide the city.
to the above naysayers, i think the supposed danger is largely in your head. yes, overpasses make parts of new haven feel like no-mans-land. i have never, ever had a problem walking past these housing projects. sure, it is not the ritz carleton, and new haven has not done the best job balancing the economic divide that exists, i guess. but, do you just want a gentrified, disney-esque downtown and poor people to disappear?

I like the idea of some kind of awesome sign or artwork on the bridge here. Unfortunately, I doubt that ConnDOT would go for it.
The state's economic development department should set up a fund specifically targeted to improve the economic development potential within 1/2 mile of the state's major train stations (Stamford and New Haven). Other states have done this.
Our great train stations should be seen as seeds for economic development, not treated like they are worthless. For example, ConnDOT vetoed putting in bicycle symbols on this street a couple of years ago. It is embarrassing that our state's economic development policies are so uncoordinated.
The city also needs to take action, improving the comfort level of the walk by focusing on creating pedestrian-friendly infrastructure throughout the area. Instead, all the city's construction and striping in the area over the past few years has seemed to just be designed with the goal of creating taxicab-friendly, pedestrian-killing speedways.
