I understand your response, but what is being done to correct the dangerous road conditions between Rochester road & Adams? Is this a Road Commission responsibility or Rochester Hills?

Is there a reason that no one has answered the last question?

I believe that it's a Road Commission issue (checked on it awhile ago and that's what I was told by the City) and they should be monitoring this issue. Have no idea why they're not responding.

I know they are widening the road between Livernois east to Rochester road but that still doesn't explain why Rochester Hills isn't patching the potholes. Please step up & do your jobs!

I understand that funding has been secured by the Road Commission who has responsibility for Tienken with the help of the City kicking in some money to expedite the timeline. Not sure when it's supposed to start but it is going to be worked on. I do know that it's not the City's responsibility to fix that road. Criticism needs to be directed to the Road Commission as to why they're not filling in the potholes in the interim. There's also a roundabout going in at Livernois and Tienken for those that weren't aware.

Oakland County Road Commission is responsible for Tienken. I contacted them directly about the total deterioration of Tienken between Livernois and Adams. I got NO response. Forget the roundabout and use the money to repave between Adams and Livernois. What is the use of increasing traffic flow if the road is a total shambles. Where is the future plan for this section? There isn't one. Extra lanes can wait if we can't use the ones that are there now! Traffic is coming to a stop in several areas because it is necessary to cross the center line to avoid huge potholes and disaster areas of "road" (I use that term loosely here).

In response to the above comments: The Road Commission, in conjunction with the City of Rochester Hills, has secured funding for the repaving of Tienken between Adams and Livernois. Initially that funding was not available until 2017, but with the City's help, we are hoping to be able to do the work in 2015, though it remains to be seen if that will happen. The Road Commission is patching the countless potholes all over the county as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience. We continue to work extended weekday shifts and weekends in an effort to address the potholes.

"we are hoping" to be able to do the work in 2015?? You either are or you're not. What are you hoping for?

Not that simple, Luis. There are many hoops that must be jumped through in order to be able to use the funding and to be able to complete the design. So, yes, we are hoping to do the work in 2015, but it is not an absolute certainty. We wish it was that simple, but that is not the reality of the road-funding world.

Thank you for commenting. Unfortunately, people like myself don't understand the road-funding world and really beginning to realize how complicated it is. I guess I'm wondering why it has to be that way but that's a topic for another time. Something as straightforward as the Tienken road project seems to me to be uncomplicated in the design, however I'm sure that I'm minimizing the actual work. I do recall, what seems like not long ago, that stretch of road was resurfaced and not long after began deteriorating. So, hopefully this next time it will last longer.
