Enough is enough.

This is a persistent issue not only on 8 and Woodward but throughout our city. I share the concern about blight, health and safety. There is one homeless person who is fastidiously neat! Wouldn't it be nice if they all could be. Maybe Tiny homes somewhere near our community would be the ultimate answer. Society is stratified. Coexistence is the challenge. If the city embraces this problem I am happy to work on a solution.

This problem has not been corrected. There is still trash and litter. Isn't littering illegal? If I were to walk by a police officer and drop a bag of McDonald's littering the ground with fries, burgers and chicken nuggets, would the officer let me stand there and look at him or just keep walking? I don't think so.

I just drove by the Wd/8 area. It seems the new people there have been spending their time lounging and not panhandling... at least the two times I have been by there today. Their belongings are folded and placed against the wall. I'm not noticing any messy litter... or Abe, Dale and the dog.

I drove by st least five times today, as I’m required to pass the intersection on my way home, and I noticed the following:

Trash, half-naked vagrants, Abe stumbling and panhandling, another person obstructing traffic, another one coming out of the backyard of a Woodstock Rd resident.

There is no downplaying this issue. It is not safe/sanitary for residents to cross this intersection.

I see the same. Why is it the city cannot see the problem? We as citizens cannot correct this, that is not allowed. That means the city must act. Unfortunately the city does not have the courage to make the tough decisions and take some action.

This is a Police matter and will be referred to the neighborhood police officer for this area.

Problem persists...this is months after the original reporting.

Who is responsible for correcting this problem? Is the city not responsible? It would seem that the city of Detroit would rather ignore this issue. No other city in the metro Detroit area has this problem What are these municipalities doing to correct this, are they sending all of the homeless to Detroit? Sorry if I sound heartless but it's been long enough, time to take some action. Step up city of Detroit and do something.

The police will not handle this. This needs to come from the Mayor's office. The police will only talk to them and leave them be. FIX THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL.

I am sure the Mayor must know that this is a growing cancer. 8 mile and Woodward is a Blanton example but there are many areas around the city facing the same issue. I applaud the persistence of the group participating in this report but worry about the deaf ears receiving the message. I agree this supersedes the police and needs the ear of the mayor.

The beautiful MURALS have been completed ON BOTH sides of the underpass. The homeless are BACK on the Detroit side. Can the City of Detroit and Ferndale PLEASE COMPLETE THE PROJECT? Get something there to KEEP THEM OUT. Enough is Enough, We can't even enjoy a beautiful MURAL. Why not just put barricades there....Can you find them someone else to LIVE PLEASE. Maybe the City could clean this area up BEFORE THE ROCKET MORTGAGE PGA TOURNAMENT AT THE DETROIT GOLF COURSE, iTS CLEAN UP TIME. Needs a power wash too. Smells of URINE AND FECES.
