  These problems are being caused by a group of troublemaking transplants who have spent the last couple of years systematically taking over the lake. Ironically enough, they label any long-time Oakland residents/natives who oppose their hostile takeover of this area "gentrifiers," despite being the gentrifiers themselves. Unfortunately, our corrupt city government is not likely to do anything about it as they are too busy stuffing their pockets with our tax dollars while doing zero work.

  City Of Oakland - Enforce the ordinances on Lake Merritt! Two parking officers on a Saturday and Sunday could bring in many $$ in fines just writing tickets on all of the illegally parked cars. We residents get a ticket every time we forget to move a car for street cleaning nights. Yet, we seldom see any enforcement of ordinances on Lake Merritt on the weekend. DO YOUR JOB CITY OF OAKLAND!   Thank you! Well said. City of Oakland, please don't abdicate and lose control of the city because of a few offenders. Oakland needs to deal with this issue which is a huge problem, complete disregard of laws and rules on the books, disturbing (more than disturbing, they're completely thrashing) the public peace.

  Unfortunately, as I said before, it is highly unlikely that our thoroughly corrupt city government will do anything about this problem. I completely sympathize with you as I also agree that this is a major problem and should be addressed, but the unfortunate fact of the matter is that our city is far too corrupt and dysfunctional to do anything about it. The only way we will be able to get our city to start maintaining law & order in Oakland is if we vote all of these corrupt "progressives" out of office and replace them with some bona fide conservatives who actually care about Oakland. Unfortunately, this is also highly unlikely due to the fact that the majority of Oakland voters are ignorant and will continue supporting corrupt progressives who ensure that Oakland remains one of the worst cities in America.

  Please write and call Hoang Bahn at 510-238-6566, who is the community outreach person for the Lakeshore Ave area, and email is hbahn@oaklandca.gov I've been told by Oakland 311 of this contact.
  Everyone deserves to be able to use the park, and the ordinances should be enforced so that there is not this invasion of super amplified sound, (ordinance exists but not being enforced) littering, urinating on peoples private residences, illegal and dangerous parking (observed illegal food vendors blocking crosswalks) and more all because Oakland PD is not devoting adequate resources on the weekend to this problem. The civil fines issued would more than pay for the enforcement costs of a few more officers. There have even been sideshows in the street by motorcycles and cars, hugely endangering pedestrians and property. Oakland PD -do your jobs!

  Get involved residents and peaceful park users, or this ridiculous disturbance of the peace every weekend will continue.
