The Detroit Landbank Contractor that demolished the house at 2268 destroyed the curb and damaged the street. This issue has been unresolved since June 2015 despite more than a dozen phone calls to the Landbank and the City of Detroit. The Landbank says its not their issue and the sidewalk and pothole departments say they don't repair curbs.

I get the feeling that a real infrastructure issue just got pigeon holed.
Perhaps actual repair of the curb is not on anyone's KPI, therefore if its not getting measured its not getting fixed.
The idea that sidewalk replacement only occurs when the street is resurfaced is a falsehood. There have been several sidewalk replacement projects in the neighborhood in the last couple of years without street resurfacing and the sidewalks are currently being replaced on South Lasalle which is the next block over and there is no street resurfacing occurring there.
Additionally the curbs were replaced the next block over at LaSalle park last summer and no road resurfacing was done around the park.
Per the goal of DPW Street Maintenance Division to maintain the City of Detroit's roadways in a way to promote safe travel within the City, in addition to the curb being damaged the underlying concrete road bed at the curb road interface was damaged when the curb was destroyed. Water accumulates in the hole created by the missing curb.
In the intervening years the water in the hole where the curb used to be has frozen. The ice heaves the roadbed and thus is damaging the roadbed which will cost the City more to replace when the road is resurfaced. Neglecting the curb now and for coming years only short changes the City and its residents in the future.
