I had the same thought. When the demand is this heavy, shouldn't both trams be on the same side picking up. There are more people trying to get on Roosevelt Island, than trying to get off. I thought that was one reason for upgrading the tram, so they can run simultaneously during high demand. I think the reason they upgraded was so they don't have to pay 2 people to run the tram.
