TheTraffic & Parking Division determined that the Stop Lines were properly installed on Harding Pk. westbound & eastbound and on Estes Rd. for the existing roadway geometrics at the intersection. The small radius at the intersection requires the Stop Lines to be installed at their current locations, so that school buses and other large vehicles can make the turns at the intersection without requiring the motorists on the intersecting street to back up to allow the turn. We do not recommend the relocation of the Stop Lines at the intersection.

A school bus or large vehicle turning left from Estes onto Harding will require west bound vehicles on Harding to back up. That's the problem and likely the reason the stop line was originally located 30' east of its present location.

Still no changes. It appears that Public Works will not admit the mistake. They will not explain why the stop line was located where it was previously...because that worked. When accidents result from this problem, this information will be made available to the press.
