The dust has been a problem since the road was ground to gravel. The problem now is safety. Cars travel over the speed limit on this road. The dust stay suspended in the air long enough that a second car cannot be seen if it is traveling behind the first car creating the dust. Very risky to those pulling on to the road from a driveway or side street. Concerned also about the school bus that uses this route. 8482 division.

This needs to be fixed. The hazards are numerous. Potential accidents due to limited vision, damage to your vehicle from all the ruts and health issues with the constant cloud of dust hovering over the area. Not to mention the punks that use the dust to hide and egg your cars. I pray nothing happens to our cars everytime I drive on this road (and I use that term loosely). How much abuse can a vehicle take? Something needs to be done. This is not acceptable.

I agree with Mr. Anderson. Many reasons other than just the dust to fix the road. My wife and I attended the Calhoun Country Road Commission meeting last night. Good meeting. They answered a lot of questions. The final word is that we (residents of Emmett and Newton townships) need to contact our township and address the situation thought them. Both Newton and Emmett townships will need to take the issue to the county. Once the county gets the ok from the townships they can start working on the cost estimates. Next step for all of us is to contact our townships. If you can't go to one of the meetings, make sure you sign the petition when it comes around. Signatures will get ball rolling. Brine was put on the road yesterday and has made it much better. The county said they will continue the short term fix (brine and gravel) but the residents should start working with the townships to find a way to replace the road to original (3 inch blacktop). . 8482 Division
